What is an RCCB?
An RCCB is a specialized electrical device designed to protect against electric shock and fires caused by ground faults. A ground fault occurs when current leaks from a live conductor to a conductive surface like water or metal, creating a hazardous situation. RCCBs are engineered to detect such leaks and interrupt the circuit when necessary. How Does an RCCB Work? RCCBs operate on a fundamental principle – the balance of current. They continuously monitor the current flowing through the live (hot) and neutral wires of an electrical circuit. In a correctly functioning circuit, the current in the live and neutral wires should be equal. If there is a difference in current, the RCCB will trip, cutting off the power supply almost instantly.
